Fear is a choice

"At the point of fatigue, where you think you can't do one more rep, is that crucial moment where you're on the cusp of getting results," Kristofich said.
Kristofich, a New York native who went into fitness instruction right after he left the Navy, explains that the class activates people's fight-or-flight response and that students have the choice of getting angry or afraid. Anger drives a chemical reaction in the brain that releases endorphins and dopamine, which kill pain and allow you to continue, he said.
"You reach a point where you're able to forget and keep going," he said. "You get a burst of energy. You'd be amazed; you don't know what your bodies are capable of. Most of it is in your head."
